Eli Rarey is an independent filmmaker based out of Los Angeles.
Experimenting with fiction, documentary, and non-linear narrative, Eli Rarey consistently pushes the boundaries of the cinematic form. His interactive web series Hard Decisions allows the viewer to navigate a branching narrative with 11 possible endings. He has created numerous short films, music videos, and interactive installations including frequent collaborations with dancer and choreographer Katherine Helen Fisher. He is a founding member of SCIENCE PROJECT performance collective and a regular contributor to online art and literary journal Ohio Edit.
His feature film The Famous Joe Project premiered at Outfest in 2012. His short by the same name (on which the feature is based) premiered at the 2007 Slamdance Film Festival and won Best International Short Film at the Lisbon Village International Digital Cinema Festival.
He is a graduate of USC School of Cinematic Arts, where he later taught in the Interactive Media Division. In addition to his work as a writer/director, he has worked as a visual effects production manager on both independent and major studio films.
